We are selling our beloved classic Broom 19-foot speedboat “Ela Mana Moo”. Broom Capricorn 19″ speedboat4 litre straight 6 cylinder watercooled inboard petrol engine OMC Stringer stern-driveFenders and warpsICOM m421 vhf radiomarine amplifier and waterproof speakersclipper depth soundertwin batteriesstainless steel three blade propdetachable ski pole Many spares included including workshop manual This classic speedboat was manufactured in around 1976. She is named after a famous race-horse, and spent a large part of it’s life as a water-ski boat in the Lake District, before being moved to the South Coast. We have owned her for the last 3 years, and she is now in winter storage in a boat yard in Christchurch. The boat has a 4 litre straight 6 cylinder engine with OMC Stringer stern drive – a typical American design of the 1970’s. The engine and stern-drive are in good working order, and the engine starts and runs reliably and smoothly. The hull is in sound condition with no serious damage. However, as will be expected with a boat of this age, there are signs of wear and tear: the gel coat has lost some of its colour and needs a good polish in the spring, the perspex windshield has a few small cracks, that sort of thing. However, with a weekend’s effort in the spring she still polishes up nicely, and with the delightful deep rumble of the big engine she still draws many admiring glances. She planes easily and handles nicely on the open sea. The catch? On the trip from the mooring to the winter storage the steering mechanism broke. We got the boat to the yard and had her lifted out for the winter. Because of this, the boat cannot be driven until this is repaired. The steering consists of a pair of cables running (photograph included) from the helm to the stern of the boat. These need to sourced and replaced, which we do not have the time or resources to do, so she has to go. This boat would ideally suit an enthusiast who has the time and skills to spend and give this boat the love and care it deserves. With the steering fixed and a few other things tidied up, these boats are worth several thousand pounds. We strongly advise that anyone seriously interested this boat contact us and come and inspect the boat for themselves in Christchurch. I am afraid the boat must be collected and transported by the buyer: it will need to transported by trailer (unless of course the buyer continues to store the boat in it’s current location in Christchurch). We are also advertising this boat elsewhere and so reserve the right to remove the listing at any time.

For sale is my beloved speed boat! She has given us smiles in the sea and on the lakes! Touch wood to this day she has never broken down. It has a 2.5 litre 2 stoke v6 mercury black max engine. I had it re sprayed in triumph green paint. It’s the paint that flickers gold pearl in the sun. It’s a top notch paint job. I serviced the carbs and plugs 1 year ago, the boat has not done anything in the last 12 months and has been stored under cover. The boats comes with the trailer too and has the original cover with popper buttons. (couldn’t find a picture to show). Please call me if you have any questions. 07756633277 cheers

Broom Capricorn Speedboat Length 5.79m / 19ft Beam 2.44m / 8 ft Max draft 0.91m / 3 ft Seating – 5 people. This is a great looking classic British Broom Speedboat known as the Capricorn and is made of fibreglass and is a quality build probably from around the 1980`s (exact date unknown). Very spacious and seaworthy design. It come complete with a Snipe brake back braked trailer which has been adapted with non galvanized metal and is showing its age and rust. The centre beam running the length of the boat is galvanized and a new axle was fitted in 2013 and the trailer has only done 100 miles since fitted. The trailer was used in March 2019 for a 45 mile journey without any problems however the jockey wheel clasp sheared due to lack of use and will need re-tapped. The jockey wheel and clasp are with the boat. The boat is in its original blue gel coat and with polishing comes up nice and shiny but still to be done. The deck is a cream gel coat and again needs T cutting and polishing to bring up the shine. Obviously being around 40 years old there is some crazing and marking but generally looks very good for its age. The interior trim has a number of damaged areas and I would envisage any new owner would want to re upholster the seats if not all the padded trim around the boat. The front passenger seat is not secure and most of the metal seat frame is corroded and will need replaced but all parts are there as templates. The plywood bases of the rear sun deck will need renewing as now rotten. The dash has all the original instruments and the throttle / gear lever is the original Merc Control classic style single stick which is really cool and retro. The trim gauge has never worked from purchase. One of the two simple timber struts that support the padded upholstered cushions for the rear bathing deck will need renewing as the wood is rotten but this would be a simple job. The windscreen is crazed from ultra violet light but you normally look above the screen. The Broom Capricorn has a ski locker in the floor in the middle of the boat, engine bay fan, electric bilge pump, navigation lights and a built-in fuel tank which sits in the bow and I understand can be removed, alloy cleats and stainless steel hand rails. The quality and style can be seen in the boat with a lockable dashboard glove compartment like a car and drinks / cup holders either side of the boat. The classic looking flared bow of the Capricorn deflects the worst of any spray and gives the boat that classic look of the more famous Italian Riva style boats and you can just imagine that the Capricorn would not look out of place in any of the Italian lakes. In good condition the Capricorn is one of the most sought after classic speedboats and recent asking prices have been in excess of £17,000 admittedly in better condition with newer trailers and engines. The following is a link to an article on the best classic speedboats :- https://uk.boats.com/reviews/five-classic-power-boats-triana-broom-riva-fairey-albatross/ The engine is a MerCruiser 470 3.7L 4 cylinder 165hp petrol engine. I think it has the matching external drive leg but cannot say for certain. Engines are not my thing. Think this used to go about 25/30 knots although if you re-engine with a more modern unit the Capricorn will do 40 knots with ease ! The boat was last used in 2013 having been on a mooring for 8 weeks over the summer and in use and was then stored in a remote location with a canvas fitted deck cover and a tarp over that. Unfortunately thieves stole the bathing ladder from the stern platform and also the battery and the two covers were ripped leaving the boat exposed to the weather and rain. Rain water sat in the boat for some time covering the lower part of the engine so it is highly likely that the engine will need some work and replacement of any exposed parts. The engine looks rusty in areas but may just clean up with a wire brush and WD40. The external drive leg has a good propeller. The engine was working and running nicely in 2013 as it had just been serviced by the local boat shop. So this is a great opportunity to pick up an original Broom Capricorn which will make a great starter base for a restoration project with all the original detail and fittings (except the bathing ladder) still with the boat. I would expect any purchaser will want to probably replace the trailer or at least do some major work on the existing one, re-upholster the seats and bathing deck and do something with the engine and electrics. The engine might not be as major as a full engine replacement but it will certainly need work. I would have loved to have got this boat fully restored and taken it to the lakes but time, enthusiasm and skill are against me. Hopefully someone will take this on as it is a beautiful looking classic speedboat and deserves better. PS. If the 1970`s James Bond style arch at the rear of the boat is not to your taste I have seen boats with this removed that look great and a simple chrome polished steel vent plate covers the area where removed. Please note you are bidding to buy not to come and see it. NO RESERVE. Collection within 2 weeks please. I have tried to describe it as best I can and make you aware of what is needing done. Please look closely at the pictures. If you would like to come and view that would not be a problem, I am based in Edinburgh, and if you need any further info please ask.

1x End of season bargain. All fees have been paid. Allocated holiday dates are below, more to be added at our annual AGM every October. All are swappable with current members by consent.16/02/201913/04/201903/08/201919/10/201928/12/201904/04/202002/05/2020LIGHTNING is very well known on the Norfolk Broads and the syndicate has been running since 2008. LIGHTNING is shared by a group of fastidious owners and is maintained to a very high standard and she is kept at her mooring at Broom Boats in Brundall, Norfolk NR13 5PX. This is a self managed syndicate and is therefore not subject to any 3rd party overheads. Management is by two elected officers – a Chairman and a Treasurer. This is a JOINT OWNERSHIP arrangement and not a commercial or profit making operation in any way whatsoever. This means that you will become a member of a group of like minded people making joint decisions on the running of the boat and what investments are made in future. An 8% share will give you at least one week in each of the seasons Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter. The maximum all up costs are around £1600 per year per share for your four week allocation. (This covers everything including winter maintenance and any agreed capital expenditure – these figures are often not quoted with some other syndicates – which can make the costs look artificially low) This equates to only one week on a similar hire-boat. As an example a similar boat ‘Jasmine Emblem’ from Horning Ferry Marina is more than £1600 per week in the high season compared with around £400 per week on Lightning. Over the last few years LIGHTNING has been subject to a number of upgrades. New engine, gearbox, LED lighting, and upgraded electrics now make her arguably the fastest and technically most up to date in her class. Every year she goes back into water better than the year before. LIGHTNING is on the rivers for around 44 weeks a year so if you are on the Norfolk Broads then there is a good chance you will see her. All our members are friendly people who will gladly show you around our lovely boat so all you need to do is ask! ## Selling as Spares or Repairs – See detail below ## Stunning Classic 16′ Sorcerer Scorpio Ski Boat with powerful 140 HP Outboard. I am the 3rd Owner and have owned her 23 years. Prior to me, she was purchased by a member of a Ski Club in Chichester who had her two seasons. Her first owners were the Ski Club, who operated her locally and only ever on fresh water. If you google ‘Scorpio Powerboats’ you will find out how capable these hulls are, many have been raced and some have entered in the round the UK powerboat race. They are extremely well build solid boats with fabulous sea keeping qualities and have a lovely hull profile. You will see on line that some have been raced with only modest outboards, even 40HP outboards have achieved up to 30 knots. This boat is very very very quick indeed. With 140 HP, the maximum permitted, she will outperform most and has achieved 50 knots. If you are a keen sports boat person, you will know that 16′ boat with 140HP will be extremely quick. The boat and engine were completely overhauled when I purchased her with routine maintenance happening since. I have shown just a few pictures of her restoration (the trim tilt unit and leg), but I have a number of these pictures I will send others you if you are a genuine buyer. She has a folding ‘walk through’ screen, giving easy access to the fore deck. During the refit, the boat had new seat foams, wooden bases and upholstery. New carpets were fitted, gauge cluster and switch-gear added, rewired, bilge pump, air-horn, all hardwood trims and cleat pads, radio antenna, new compass, the gel coat was cut and polished, fuel lines replaced, internal fuel tank flushed, new stainless fittings – the list goes on. Sufficed to say, she was completely refurbished back then. During the refit, the engine was completely stripped back to the power-head. She had new seals in the trim tilt unit, new starter motor, new water pump impeller, gearbox seals, every panel, the engine leg, the engine skirt, mount etc was powder coated or sprayed professionally. She has all new ignition coils, plugs and silicone HT leads. I had the gearbox stripped back and polished originally, but this was a pain to keep it shiny! The two wheel trailer is of the ‘brake-back’ type (for launching on steep inclined slips). The trailer was repainted but this needs stripping back and doing again. She has had new wheel bearings and hubs 6 years ago, wheels and tyres on both sides 6 years ago, with only one use back then. I have just fitted a new jockey wheel and have removed the wheels and checked the hubs to ensure well greased and she rolls okay. The boat has a 22 gallon internal fuel tank, filled from the fore deck. Instruments include Volt gauge, Amp gauge, Clock, Speed and Rev Counter, Trim and Tilt gauge, Fuel gauge and Engine Temperature gauge. She has separate trim tilt switches. There is a switch panel for Navigation Lights, Horn, Bilge Pump, Radio Power (VHF Removed but bracket and antenna remain) and Spot Light. The battery compartment is under the walk through Screen. In the rear of the boat, just in front of the transom, there is a boarding hook stowed away, and emergency pull start cord. The air horn compressor is located here. There are internal stowage areas along the length of both internal sides of the boat, a ‘glove box’ and decent stowage under the rear seat. There is a foldaway anchor and chain included. The upholstery remains very good indeed, with no visible tears or rips, the two bucket seats, which are needed, are adjustable back and forward. The front passenger seat can be reversed for ski support. To the rear there is a fitted ski pole, with a float rope and handle (included) to the engine well. All the stainless fittings are good, but the hardwood pads they sit on need re staining and varnishing. There is a boarding ladder included, which has excellent teak steps and fair plastic coated aluminum rails. There are also two fold up and away foot steps on the rear transom. There is also an auxiliary engine removable mount that is included. The antenna has a broken base but this is common and an easy fix. It clips above the ski-rope for storage. Selling as Spares or Repair – This boat has been laid up for 6 years and will need recommissioning. I have not run the engine, however, there is no reason why the engine will not run; she was laid up fully operational and running. The battery is flat and will need replacing. The fuel system will need to be flushed through. As with this length of time, the impeller will need to be replaced, as will the spark plugs. The carbs will need to be checked and flushed / cleaned. The boat gels coat is in good condition. I can not find any osmosis but there are some chips to the gel coat in places, in keeping with a boat of her age. If you T cut and polish a section, you will see the brilliant shine that she still has. The carpets would benefit from replacing or a proper wash (there are no threadbare areas or rips but show the signs of general wear). The hardwood strip and pads all need sanding back and re varnishing. There is some rot to the soft wood rear seat frame that needs cutting out and replacing (see picture of this – its the top part of the rear seat base frame). The powder coating has come away from the base of the ski-pole (where it fixes to the deck) whilst still sound, this has rusted and will need replacing with a marine gauge stainless steel one). The upholstery is stapled to the underside of the seat pads. I didn’t use stainless staples, but did paint every staple – this hasn’t saved them and many have rusted. The pads themselves (just cut sections of marine ply) would benefit from being replaced. The starboard navigation light lens has broken, I have replaced with a clear lens to keep the fitting dry, but this must be replaced with a green lens. The plastic screw base of the antenna has broken, and the large and now obsolete VHF removed. I later used a handheld VHF meaning this was made redundant. There is paint chips on parts of the leg and bracket, shown in the pictures. One of the hardwood strips on the fore-deck has detached at one end (they were blind screwed from underneath) and so a screw will need replacing. The teleflex steering rod has seized tight where it comes out from the outer cable and into the engine steering arm. Strangely for such a fabulous engine (used by military in its time) there were parts made of steel on the outboard, like the tilt up lock and the steering linkage! The teleflex cables will need replacing and is a consumable part really. I have detached the linkage so the engine can be moved freely, as can the steering wheel. One wheel stud needs replacing as this was corroded. I have put in a steel replacement, but this can only be temporary. So in brief, here we have a previous restoration of a stunning future classic ski boat, super quick and powerful. Lots of fun, capable and extremely well built. She had a pampered life and full expensive previous restoration. She needs recommissioning, this is not a weekend fiddling and off you go, I have listed the jobs that I know will need doing. I would welcome and promote any inspection at my home in Fareham, where I can take you through her and answer your questions. I will include a full Envinrude workshop manual, service manual and other booklets. There are a few spares going with the boat. I will include a full light trailer board (old 9 pin style connector) but this hasn’t been tested. Lastly the buyer will need to bring either some ropes or preferable ratchet straps to tie the boat down for towing. I have a set of skis (mono and twin use) which I will take a separate offer on – there are unmarked and only used once. I also have a two seat Aqua Sausage which i will take offers on. This is a RELUCTANT sell, I am moving abroad in the next few months, my house is now sold and I cant take her with me. This is the wrong time to sell a boat I know, I dont want to sell her, and I reserve the right to be selective of who she goes to. This is not something I want to know has been bodged up for a quick thrill. Please i hope that she goes to an enthusiast. Having said that, there is LOW START and NO RESERVE. I reiterate that I would prefer for buyers to come by for a coffee and a chat to see the boat, I would like to meet her new owner and give you a chance to view the boat in detail. She will be sold as seen, a spares or repair project with either cash or money transfer – no pay-pal please. Thank you. Peter On 21-Feb-19 at 22:05:28 GMT, seller added the following information: Please note that I am letting the auction go onto the end. I can’t remove ‘make me an offer’ from the listing. I won’t be accepting offers or ending the auction early. Thank you
