Its not new, but looking about the other boats, it is one of the best condition on the market. Listed with a low reserve to sell, and a realistic Buy it now considering the quality and spec. (EG High five prop) Welcome to my auction for Sunrise, a Mariah SX18 Bowrider 2008 fitted with a 3.0L Mercruiser inboard 140 HP engine. She has been our family boat for the last 3 years, and changes in holiday patterns means we cannot use her this year, and the year after is uncertain. So a reluctant but necessary sale. We named her SunRise, (Our Previous boat was Sundance :)) If you have a family, a bowrider is a must. Sitting in the front, with the wind in your hair, with the sun beginning to set is a moment they will never forget. This is a long description, as I don’t want to miss anything. So please, print it off, sit down with a brew, and hopefully this will be of interest. General conditionFor a 5 year old boat, she is in excellent general condition. The last time she was on the water was last autumn, and everything was working fine. I am checking through it, and will replace anything that I find. The Black and White colouring is my favourite… The Mariah SX 18If you are not familiar with the Mariah brand, please take some time to read the information on the web about them. She is an American built boat, very similar to a Chaparal or a Maxum (Probably sits between the two for finish quality and design). All fitments are in Stainless Steel, and so look as new. There are not many in the UK, so they are not so well known, but the engines and steering gear found on every other boat. It is the hull that is special. It is a deep V hull, so is ideal for use on British waters. The hull design is I believe similar to a Fletcher, so she rides the waves superbly, and I have never felt threatened when out in sometimes quite stormy conditions. A key feature of the Mariah, is she is completely wood free, so there is no rot. Hull maintenance is easy, and she has always had a full freshwater flush after every holiday on the sea. We have until recently been members of Church Wilne Water Ski club, so that has given us the opportunity few have to thoroughly wash the salt off, both inside and out. Consequently she is a very clean boat for her age, and there are no rips in the upholstery. Looking closely, there are a few discolourations in the white faux leather, but I think they would come out with a scrub. The Helms PositionThe Helm has a brand new Kill cord, so it will not drop off your leg. There is a compass in front of you, and I have fitted a fish finder. (Vital for inland tidal waters as a depth gauge). You will generally drive it standing, but the seat flips up to make it possible to half sit/stand. I have a ski mirror which is a bit of a pain wherever it goes as children knock it off. The steering wheel tips, which is a pointless feature imho. Layout and StorageThe layout for a family is fantastic. When going on expeditions( We have spent a lot of time exploring South Wales, Tenby, FreshWater, St Brides Bay, Fishguard etc) There is loads of room to store everything from kit, toys to food and warm weather gear. Right at the front, there is an Anchor locker. The seats at the front have room for ropes, buoys, snorkels, There is a glove compartment with the stereo in it for keys cameras and phones, a cool box below it (We have used that for first aid, spare hats etc). A Ski locker in the middle, a huge area by the passengers feet ( We put a big plastic box here for food, BBQ etc). There are cup holders for a morning coffee, and areas down each side for flares, fishing rods or coats. Under the big bench back seat, there is further storage available (spare life jackets) Finally, either side of the engine is sectioned off, the left we used for the biscuit (rubber ring) and the right for tools, and other items for emergencies (The battery lives there). Finally, at the back, there is a ski rope locker. The boat just works. EngineThe 3 litre Mercuiser is so much lighter than the 4.3L, and has most of its power, and is known to be very reliable. Being a 2008, the engine is the original block, but it has been developed over the years. You can see from the pictures, she is clean. A few bit of mild steel are showing rust, but less than expected from a 5 year old boat. CoversThe white front bowrider cover (With supporting pole) matches the canvas cabin cover. Cabin cover (For use when motoring) There are zips round the side of this, but no sides. This is how it was supplied to me. I added the black canvas cabin cover, which I uses for travelling. It covers the front screen, protecting the screen and inside from sunlight. (Only 3 years old, but a small hole has appeared that needs sewing) An extra large blue winter cover comes with the boat, that protects it from the worst the weather throws at her. With a roller coaster trailer, she will roll straight into the water off most slips. With almost new tyres, and a spare wheel and tyre. It is braked, and I have the parts, but the brakes are not currently fitted. The Brakes have never been put into water. The Jockey wheel is new. The single axle, with a big jockey wheel at the front, means that Sunrise can be launched on surprisingly flat beaches, with two able bodied people. (My wife and I could launch on Port Eynon beach without getting the car wet) Although I would not recommend it unless you have tried it before. The low profile tyres, mean that the hull is lower to the water than most trailers, and so she needs only about 2ft of water to float to be just launched). (I am guessing at that, but its not far off. Also, recovery is easy if you have a long rope. You do need firm flat sand. PropellorFitted is a High Five Stainless prop. (retail £540 delivered on ebay) Really adds performance to the boat) an almost new aluminium propeller, as fitted as standard on this alpha drive unit is also for sale with the boat. As I hope you can tell, we have had loads of fun on Sunrise. We are sorry shes got to go but it no good her sitting in the drive looking sad. If you are looking for a fun fast, family boat. This is the one 🙂 I have listed her as she is, to the best of my knowledge. Pay by Cheque, cash or postal order.Funds need to be cleared before collection.
