PICTON 159 GTS SPEED BOAT WITH MARINER 75 hp OUTBOARD – superb retro project. I am reluctantly selling this boat because having restored it I am now unable to handle it due to health reasons so it is time to move on to a different project and let someone else take it over. I was drawn to the Picton speed boats primarily because they are reminiscent of the James Bond style speed boats and decided to re-design the interior because it didn’t really have one apart from a couple of old car seats! South Coast Outboards in Christchurch replaced and re-fibreglassed all rotten wood in the interior (which only effected the upper floor and not the hull itself which was fine) and serviced the outboard engine. The trailer is galvanised, the jockey wheel, winch, wheels and tyres have all been replaced and the bearings were done a couple of years ago but the boat hasn’t been in the sea since. The hull is in pretty good shape for its age but does have some small spots of fibreglass crazing and some fading of the gel coat but polishes up quite nicely. The interior has been lined with a thick, premium grade carpet and new high quality seats have been purpose made to fit the boat. The boat has been trimmed with 18mm routed marine grade ply held in place with removable stainless steel bolts (wing nuts on the reverse) so that they can be easily taken off for maintenance purposes. A new retro steering wheel has also been fitted. The outboard motor is a two stroke Mariner 75hp engine with electronic tllt which makes the boat fly. It has been converted to run on premixed fuel to avoid complications at sea or catastrophic engine failure. The boat is situated just outside Devizes in Wiltshire where it can be viewed. I have listed the boat early in order to catch the summer holidays. I am still cleaning the boat up after winter storage and having a new starter motor fitted as the current one has failed. Water skis and other boat paraphernalia available separately but the boat does come with fuel tanks, anchor, ski pole, hitch lock and ropes. Please note I also have a Picton 170 GTS with a 75hp Yamaha engine on the back also very nearly ready to go although this one has not been finished off to quite the same premium finish (keep an eye on my “other items”). If you have any questions or would like to make an appointment to view either boat please contact Toby on 07957 357492.
